Most recently he was the Chief Technology Officer for The Evolved Group; a human insights organisation combining human research and data science.

Mr Staines has a proven record of planning, developing and executing major transformational projects, including digital transformation, change management and cultural change.  He will take carriage of a number of the strategic initiatives outlined in the Benetas Next Generation Strategy 2025.

Mr Staines’ professional experience is underpinned by postgraduate qualifications in Computing and Information Technology. He is also accredited as an Enterprise Architect and Agile Scrum Master.

Benetas CEO, Sandra Hills OAM, says he will be an invaluable addition to the executive team and the broader organisation.

"As the inaugural CIO to Benetas, John’s appointment represents Benetas’ commitment to utilising technology to its fullest capacity.

"It will allow us to deliver on a series of strategic initiatives focused on offering innovative services to people as they age; and creating a distinctive customer experience, taking into account safety, quality, choice and responsiveness. Additionally, John’s experience will help us to streamline and improve a number of existing organisational practices.

"John impressed us, not only with his extensive industry experience and deep technical knowledge, but importantly with his passion for people. We are thrilled to welcome John to the team," she says.

Mr Staines said he’s delighted to join the leading Victorian aged care provider.

"I’m looking forward to playing a key role within the Benetas Executive team and growing a comprehensive technology program.

"I plan to focus on key areas including risk mitigation, technology roadmap development and solution mapping based on organisational goals. Our excellent IT team will ensure our employees and clients can access information quickly and easily with the right tools in place to empower their decision making," he said.

Mr Staines commenced with Benetas on 28 March, 2022.
