Last week was National Palliative Care Week, an initiative that aims to encourage awareness and conversations on the many benefits of palliative care. Prestige InHome Care asked Janine Stockley, GM and Director of Nursing at Cabrini Palliative & Support Care Service, to share how palliative care has changed over the years and how timely access can support people living with a life-limiting illness.
Janine says, “Palliative care is a lot more than most people understand. Historically, it used to be just end-of-life care. We [at Cabrini Palliative Care] do provide end-of-life care, and we do it well. However, we also see a lot more patients for symptom management. In fact, at the Cabrini Palliative Care Unit, more people get discharged home with support than pass away.”
Prestige Inhome Care believe everyone deserves the opportunity to spend the last stages of their life, in their own home, surrounded by the people and things they love most.
They also understand the challenges of supporting a loved one with a life-limiting illness.
To enable you, or your loved one, to stay in the comfort of home with pride and dignity, Prestige Inhome Care will work alongside your GP and palliative care team to create and provide tailored care.
Palliative care in the comfort and privacy of your own home will give you more options and greater choices, so you and your loved ones can focus on the things that really matter.
Prestige Inhome Care's approach to in-home palliative care services is based on:
