Loved Ones Gather to Celebrate 100th Birthday of Arcare Parkwood Resident

on Friday, September 9, 2022

Arcare Parkwood celebrated resident Pam’s 100th birthday surrounded by loved ones at an intimate celebration organised by the Lifestyle team.

The celebration included a BBQ lunch for the residents in the lovely courtyard, a beautiful cake made by the Arcare chefs and some of Pam’s favourite songs sung by Opera Singer Amanda Hutton.

“We are so happy to have been able to organise such a great 100th birthday celebration for Pam. It’s an amazing achievement and we are so happy so many of her loved ones were able to join.” Arcare Lifestyle Coordinator Gary said.

Loved ones who were able to attend the birthday celebration included, Rosie and Richard Munro, Jeffrey Falweisser, Louise Papps, Carol Murphy, Toni Gardner, Jude Dell and Mandy and Brian Clarke.

“I hope you have a wonderful birthday, Pam; you had a lifetime lived so well and have always been loved by so many people.” Friend Rosie said.

Pam loved to dance and was taught alongside her sister Yvonne when they were young girls in London, England. When they were young women, they toured in clubs around the world as a duo act, accompanied by their mother as guardian, their act was named The Wyatt Sisters.

They invented the 6-way scarf, a famous addition to any savvy woman’s wardrobe in the 60’s, and they toured and presented at Fashion shows in capital cities and regional towns throughout Australia.

Pam and Yvonne also did a section of the Famous wool board fashion shows where they would use Wool fabric and drape and pin a new fashion design onto a model on stage in a matter of minutes. Pam became the presenter and would recruit the models for each show.

She discovered Coral Knowles when Coral was only a schoolgirl who then did her first modelling fashion show at the Sydney Easter show parade. After this, Coral became an icon in Australian modelling.
