Southcare Star Fausta (pictured left with her bingo buddies Margaret and Ron) sent this card thanking the Southcare team for her new community card which lets her travel to appointments using taxis, in line with her approved care needs.
“I stopped driving when I was 80 and will be 87 in March," Fausta said.
"I just didn’t use my car much and got tired of calling the RAC all the time to jump start my battery so got rid of it!”
Not having a car was never a problem for Fausta as she used to live across the road from her medical centre so would walk there when needed and used other transport like the free Senior Citizens bus if going to bingo or elsewhere.
But that changed when she moved into her new home a few suburbs away.
“I now use my community card to visit the same medical centre as well as Preston Street IGA super-market and Westfield Booragoon.
“This card gives me the freedom to go where I need to go and because it is cashless, I don’t have to worry about carrying extra money with me."
Southcare visits Fausta once a week for social support and every fortnight for domestic assistance in line with her approved care needs.
“I always say everyone at Southcare is always so lovely and could have written that in this card but wanted to share my special gratitude for my new community card as it has been such a great help.”
