Dozens of handcrafted items succeeded in raising much-needed funds for Telethon this year, thanks to the talent and time of seniors in the knitting club at Regis North Fremantle.
The gifted residents, who are all in their 80s and 90s, have been meeting regularly to handcraft blankets, beanies and scarves which have been sold to raise funds for Telethon, as well as donated to the home’s local school to be sold at its local fete.
Maree Thomter, Regis North Fremantle General Manager, said the residents involved were all talented and caring
“This really is a fantastic initiative, not just for the children who have benefited, but also for our residents, who have really enjoying sharing their incredible talent for knitting with fellow residents,” Ms Thomter said.
“Many of our residents have been keen to join the club and take part in the creative process of making the beautiful knitted items, it’s certainly very rewarding for them and we can see that contributing to such a worthwhile initiative, that their own lives are also being enriched.”
Regis offers a diverse range of care options including residential aged care, home care, retirement living, day therapy and day respite. Regis is one of the largest providers of aged care in Australia and cares for more than 7,000 residents each year.
