Aged Care Support Services

on Monday, March 20, 2023

Aged care support services refer to a range of services provided to older adults in Australia to help them maintain their independence and quality of life as they age.

These services can include:

  • Home care services, such as assistance with daily activities and personal care
  • Respite care, which provides short-term relief for primary carers
  • Home modification and equipment services to make the home safer and more accessible
  • Meals on Wheels, which provides nutritious meals to older adults who have difficulty preparing their own food
  • Transport services to help older adults get to appointments and other activities
  • Social support services, such as support groups and recreational activities
  • Care in a residential aged care facility for those who require more intensive support

These services are provided by a combination of government-funded and private organisations and can be accessed through the government's My Aged Care program. Eligibility for aged care support services is determined through an assessment process and is based on an individual's level of need.
