AMCS Set to Challenge the Negative Stereotypes of Ageing Through Art

on Friday, August 11, 2023

In a world that is constantly evolving, there is one aspect of society that seems to lag behind – the way we perceive and treat our elders. To address this pressing issue, the annual 'Art Against Ageism' competition by AMCS has emerged as a beacon of hope, encouraging individuals to wield their artistic prowess to challenge negative stereotypes surrounding ageing.

The competition seeks to dismantle ageism through the captivating medium of art. By engaging artists and creatives of all ages, Art Against Ageism aims to highlight the intrinsic beauty and wisdom that older individuals bring to our lives. The competition is a testament to the power of visual expression in sparking societal change and fostering a world of inclusivity and love.

This competition is a call to arms, inviting artists from all corners of the country to submit their work in categories ranging from Painting, Drawings, Photography, Graphic Design, to even AI-generated imagery.

The possibilities are as boundless as the impact this initiative aims to create. Submissions are accepted via the organization's website at amcservices.org.au/artagainstageism or can be emailed directly to marketing@amcservices.org.au.

Not only does Art Against Ageism provide a platform for creative minds to flourish, but it also promises substantial rewards for the exceptional talents on display. The first prize winner will be bestowed with a generous reward of $1000, while the second prize winner will receive $500 as a token of appreciation for their efforts. Additionally, all finalists will be given the honor of having their artwork showcased in a public exhibition, allowing their creations to be a source of inspiration and contemplation for a wider audience.

The competition's submission deadline is set for September 10, 2023, prompting artists to channel their thoughts, emotions, and perspectives into a visual representation that defies age-related biases. By participating, artists contribute to a much-needed conversation about ageism that extends beyond the canvas and reverberates throughout society.
