on Wednesday, October 11, 2023

It's time to put on your bell-bottoms and groove to the disco beats because Riverview Gardens Aged Care Centre just turned 51! The centre, which first opened its doors in the 1970s, recently celebrated its 51st birthday in true 70s style. From the themed decorations to the groovy tunes, this milestone was a blast from the past, transporting residents and guests back to a time of peace, love, and timeless music.

The celebrations were nothing short of spectacular. The moment you stepped into Riverview Gardens, you were welcomed by a vivid blast from the past. The main club room was a mesmerising sight to behold, completely decked out in 70s paraphernalia, from lava lamps to psychedelic posters. The room exuded vibrancy and a bright energy that instantly transported everyone back to that era. Even the Deputy Mayor, who graced the event with their presence, couldn't help but comment on the infectious happiness in the room.

The celebrations commenced with a high tea fit for royalty, featuring a delectable spread of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. Residents and guests mingled over cups of tea, reminiscing about their own experiences during the 70s. Meanwhile, the staff took charge of the BBQ, sizzling up some mouthwatering Aussie classics for all to enjoy. It was a feast that catered to both nostalgia and contemporary culinary preferences.

Riverview Gardens Aged Care Centre takes immense pride in its enduring commitment to the community, and this was duly acknowledged during the celebration. The Deputy Mayor, in a heartfelt gesture, presented the Centre with a certificate of recognition. This certificate was a symbol of appreciation, honouring the Centre's dedication to serving the community for over five decades. It was a touching moment that highlighted the vital role the Centre plays in enhancing the lives of its residents and their families.

The party hit its crescendo when the crowd's favourite entertainer, Terry Scott, took the stage to perform an electrifying set of 70s hits. The residents swayed to the tunes, and for a moment, age was just a number. Terry's charismatic performance brought back the nostalgia of an era known for its unforgettable music and fashion.

As the evening went on, it was evident that Riverview Gardens Aged Care Centre's 51st birthday celebration was not just a milestone but a testament to the warmth and care that this Centre provides. It's a place where residents are not just cared for; they are cherished, celebrated, and empowered to continue living life to the fullest.

Here's to another wonderful 51 years of Riverview Gardens Aged Care Centre, where the past and the present seamlessly blend to create a supportive and vibrant community that stands the test of time.
