A Tale of Friendship and Positivity: Eileen and Kathleen's Uplifting Journey at Twin Parks Aged Care

on Wednesday, December 20, 2023

Eileen and Kathleen, aged 90 and 93 respectively, share a special bond that goes beyond just being neighbours at Twin Parks Aged Care Home. Their easy smiles and nodding in agreement reflect the strong friendship they've built, both before and after becoming residents.

Kathleen, a Preston native, reminisces about the significant changes in the area, from Melbourne's garment manufacturing hub to the present-day gentrified suburb. Family and friendship hold great importance for her, and at 93, she values the close ties that bind people together.

Eileen, hailing from nearby Fairfield, near the famous boathouse, brings a spirited personality and dry sense of humour to their friendship. Like Kathleen, she cherishes the significance of family and friends and has witnessed the evolving landscape of her surroundings.

In conversation with Eileen and Kathleen, it's evident that they share a positive outlook on life, living their best years as kindred spirits. Kathleen looks forward to family time during Christmas, with her son living nearby and visiting regularly. Eileen, on the other hand, enjoys the company of her nephew, who resides just around the corner, and their weekly interactions, including playing with her nephew's dog.

Their experience at Twin Parks Aged Care has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the warmth and genuine care provided by the staff. They appreciate the consistent quality of care, the well-maintained residence, delightful food, engaging activities, and the assistance with daily tasks, such as showers and meals delivered to their rooms.

Bingo is a shared favourite activity for Eileen and Kathleen, a highlight on their to-do list, where they always save each other a seat. Asked about their favourite aspects of Twin Parks, both women emphasise the caring and supportive staff who are always there to help and look out for them.

Eileen notes the spacious TV room with a large screen as a favourite spot, where she keeps up with current affairs, albeit expressing a desire for more positive news in today's media landscape.

Heritage Care, the provider of Twin Parks Aged Care, is committed to meeting the diverse needs of its residents through assistive technology, strategic partnerships, person-centred care, and the dedicated efforts of its team.
