One resident in particular, Annie, has her own stall with craft items she prepares during the year.
Everyone gets involved on the day – the local community comes in to purchase from the stalls and stick around for coffee, family members donate items for the stalls for others to purchase, and volunteers help out as well.
Gill has been a volunteer at Arcare Parkinson for the past seven years since its opening. She runs the sales for the market and loves being a part of the day.
No one goes home empty handed – those that don’t make a purchase are given a free item so everyone feels appreciated.
Residents later vote on how to use the money raised on the day. In the past it has been spent on a memorial plaque and plant in honour of a past resident, and a garden work bench for the residents to use.
