Valentin has been working at Mayflower for more than 7 years and loves what he does. He is also known as ‘Valentino’ by his friends at Mayflower.

Valentin’s journey to Australia was paved with experiences that were shaped by his unwavering commitment to care and service.

Valentin's journey took an intriguing turn as he spent over two decades in Italy, where he served as a dedicated paramedic in a bustling emergency department and occasionally lent his expertise to aged care homes working as a nurse.

A Newfound Love

Yet, amidst the whirlwind of his professional endeavours, fate intervened during a holiday in Europe leading him to the love of his life – his now wife.

Newly married and eager for new beginnings

Soon after arriving in his new home of Australia, Valentin applied for a job at Mayflower Brighton and hasn’t looked back.

Drawing from his extensive experience in aged care, his passion for teamwork and job satisfaction has made him an invaluable asset.

“Working as a nurse in aged care while in Italy gave me the experience I needed to work with seniors,” says Valentin, “Mayflower Brighton welcomed me warmly and I soon felt very comfortable in the environmental services team.”

A Job Well Done

Valentin believes job satisfaction and teamwork are key to a good day at work, “I find a lot of satisfaction in doing my job very well, and it brightens my day when residents are happy with my work,” he adds, “I also like the fact that although we are coming from different backgrounds and cultures, we always get along very well,” he says, “we work as a team and respect each other.”

Home Life

When Valentin’s not busy at work, Valentin treasures moments spent with his family, and keeping his hands and mind busy with hobbies.

One hobby he has is working on cars, “on my days off I like spending quality time with my family,” he says, “and working on cars with my son is one of the highlights.”

Fishing for the elusive catch of the day and enjoying moments of tranquillity by the water is just one more way Valentin likes to spend his quiet time.
