The Mercy Health Foundation is a vital force in enriching the lives of older Australians within Mercy Health aged care communities. By collaborating with donors and partners, the Foundation raises essential funds that directly support the health and aged care services across Mercy Health facilities.
These funds, generously provided by the community, have been instrumental in advancing medical research, acquiring necessary equipment, offering staff education and training, and delivering support programs that cater to the emotional and financial needs of residents.
The impact of these donations is profound. For instance, a recent significant gift has enabled the pilot of cutting-edge technology designed to improve the care of people living with dementia to be rolled out at Mercy Place Parkville.
Another notable project is the establishment of an accessible community vegetable garden at Mercy Place Ave Maria in Shepparton. This garden offers residents the opportunity to engage with nature, participate in gardening activities, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of outdoor activity, all of which contribute to their overall wellbeing.
The Mercy Health Foundation is powered by the dedication of individuals who share a passion for improving the lives of older people. One such philanthropist is Lee*, a long-time supporter whose generosity has touched the lives of many residents. Each Christmas, Lee’s donations bring joy and hope to hundreds of Mercy Place residents through the gift of toiletries – a simple yet meaningful gesture that resonates deeply with those who receive it.
If you are inspired by these stories and wish to support similar projects at Mercy Place, we encourage you to contact Mercy Health Foundation at (03) 8416 7766 or email foundation@mercy.com.au.
