TLC Healthcare has partnered with Australian company, Femmé Organic, to supply 100% organic cotton and toxic-free tampons and pads to its largely female employee cohort (82%), across all TLC locations and brands, at no cost to the employee.
Every female employee bathroom across TLC’s growing network of 12 aged care homes, medical centres, early learning centres, health clubs, cafes and Head Office, will be fitted with over 200 eco-friendly bathroom dispensers containing tampons and pads.
Employees are encouraged to mindfully take what they need, gratis. And as an added benefit to TLC’s female commercial Health Club members, they can also access free sanitary products available in their changerooms.
CEO and Managing Director, Lou Pascuzzi says “while others argue about whether GST should be applicable to feminine hygiene products, we believe the argument should be whether women should have to pay for their feminine hygiene products at all.
“Menstruation is a completely natural process, yet too many individuals face barriers when it comes to accessing the products required to fully participate in work and daily life. Pads and tampons are not luxuries – they are absolutely essential. So we’re ensuring these products are available to our employees whenever they need them at work.
“We know pressures from cost of living increases and the ability to access feminine hygiene products can impact people’s ability to attend work, and carry on with their daily lives. Which is why we are committed to providing these essential products to our employees, and making it easy for them to do so.”
The addition of this benefit to an already comprehensive employee benefits program further fortifies TLC’s reputation as an outstanding, forward-thinking employer, having been awarded the Employer of Choice Award by the Australian Business Association for nine (9) consecutive years.
“TLC enjoys the lowest levels of absenteeism in the industry at 2.7% and the lowest industry turnover at just 7.7%. And we’re investing $500k per annum in this program. On top of this, Femmé Organic tells us that one in five woman miss work due to having their period. That 86% of people have been unprepared for their period at work, and that 73% of Australians believe workplaces should provide free period products. By supporting 82% of our overall workforce by making their periods a little gentler and kinder through Femmé Organic’s products, we’re also caring for the environment and the planet in a meaningful way”, Pascuzzi added.
