Resthaven CEO, Darren Birbeck, says, ‘I am pleased to announce a major redevelopment at Marion, with plans currently with the City of Marion for development approval. Resthaven Marion celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, so this major redevelopment is timely.’
The proposed development will result in all the Resthaven services along Township Road and on Finniss Street brought onto the one campus. The development will incorporate a 150-place residential aged care home, Community Services offices, Wellness services and Community Respite Services.
‘We are proud to be bringing all of our services at Marion together to offer a better experience for our residents and clients,’ Darren adds. ‘We are investing in our sites and looking towards the future with confidence.’
In the proposal, the new buildings will be connected by a dedicated linkway, and central communal square and a café, with associated services. The project will aim for high sustainability outcomes, including carbon neutrality for operations and a high green star rating. Once approved, the project will be undertaken over a four-year period, in three stages.
Resthaven’s Retirement Living village, located on Township Road is not part of the redevelopment and will remain unchanged.
This announcement comes in Resthaven’s 90th anniversary year. Celebrations and festivities will be held later in the year to commemorate this milestone.
