Dementia Australia has launched the Dementia Care Navigator Trial in two locations, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure more Australians can access appropriate support and information.
A special photography exhibition in support of the EveryAGE Counts campaign is inviting attendees to take the pledge against ageism. The exhibition opened on Tuesday 6th August and showcases photographs of Uniting’s aged care residents from the Edina, Illowra and Ronald Coleman Lodge residences and explores what they think is the best thing about getting older.
American dementia expert, Teepa Snow, will be in Australia this August for a series of seminars. Designed for aged care professionals, the seminars will explore a positive approach to dementia care and the effective engagement and support of people living with dementia. They will focus on the cognitive, behavioural and physical aspects of dementia care and the related practices that can be easily adopted to stimulate positive improvements within each aspect.
On July 1 2019, the Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission’s new Aged Care Quality Standards came into effect, ensuring that all aged care providers in Australia provide consumers with high quality services in a safe environment.
