Palliative Care Victoria, the state’s peak body for palliative and end of life care, has launched a groundbreaking initiative to change and enhance the quality of care of seniors. The initiative – Dignified and Respectful Decisions – educates Australians about the importance and power of discussing end of life plans with their loved ones and how to effectively collaborate with aged care teams to improve living and dying in residential aged care.
The ACCPA Care & Ageing Well Expo will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on February 10 and 11. Entry is free and visitors can register at www.careandageingexpo.com.au to view the full two-day line up of exhibitors and presenters. With an expected attendance for more than 2000 people over the two days, registration is recommended.
From 1st of January this year the aged care interest rate, known as the Maximum Permissible Interest Rate or MPIR, increased to 8.38%. The new rate only applies to new residents and some existing residents who choose to move rooms or to another home.
