Respite Care

If you are supported by a carer full- or part-time, you and your carer have the opportunity to access respite care. Respite care is short term care and accommodation providing peace of mind in the comfort and security of a friendly community.  We understand that at times, taking care of an elderly loved one can be physically and emotionally demanding. Respite care supports you and your carer by giving you both a break for a short period of time. It can help give you and your carer the time and space to do things independently. You can access this temporary at Donwood, our minimum stay is two weeks.

To book your stay you will need to have been assessed as eligible by ACAT (Aged Care Assessment), and the cost per day is equivalent to 85% of the single daily pension. Care recipients are entitled to 63 days of respite care within a financial year.

The Benefits of Respite Care

There are many benefits to respite care, for both you and your carer.

Though you may have a close relationship, there are still times when you do things individually.  These short breaks allow you to complete personal tasks, enjoy your hobbies, entertain friends and family, and take a moment to enjoy your own company. Likewise, your carer is able to pursue their own tasks such as attend personal appointments, go on holidays, visit friends and family, and have some alone time.

Your respite care at Donwood will help you and your carer find time to focus on yourselves, have fun with other people, and engage with the wider community.

Why Choose Donwood?

At Donwood, we’re proud to offer respite care to those that are looking for some individual time. With state-of-the-art facilities medical services, onsite beauty salons, and a beautiful playground for your much younger guests to enjoy, you can see why people choose to get respite at Donwood.
