If you need a little more support to remain living in your own home or are looking at the possibility of moving into a residential aged care home, you will need an aged care assessment.
These assessments are completely free and determine the level of care that is best suited to your needs. A member of an aged care assessment team will discuss your current situation, what types of care services would be best stuited to your needs and determine whether you are eligible to receive government-subsidised aged care or home care services.
You will be required to go through an aged care assessment if you:
A member of your local aged care assessment team will make a time to meet with you to discuss your care needs. Once the assessment has been completed, you will be advised of the services you are eligible to receive.
You do not need an aged care assessment if you receive privately-funded (self-funded) aged care or private home care services (care services that are not funded by the government).
