If you need help living in your own home via a Home Care Package or are looking at the possibility of moving into a residential aged care home, you will need an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team – ACAT, or ACAS in Victoria.
These assessments are completely free and determine the level of care that is best suited to your needs. You will be required to go through an ACAT assessment if you:

You do not need an ACAT/ACAS assessment if you receive privately-funded (self-funded) aged care or home care services (care services that are not funded by the government).
