St Basil’s Expands Home Care Services Into Canberra

Respected aged care and home care services provider St Basil’s is expanding its highly regarded Home Care services into Canberra, as demand rises because of Australia’s ageing population.

St Basil’s has been caring for and supporting older people for generations through its Sydney operations. Chief Executive Officer Father Nicholas Stavropoulos says the not-for-profit organisation is looking forward to assisting seniors in Canberra.

“Looking to the future and addressing the shift to ‘consumer directed care’, the demand for professional and reliable services will grow significantly,” Father Nicholas said. “We will be providing a range services to the community such as domestic assistance, personal care, social support and basic home maintenance.”

Established more than 60 years ago, St Basil’s is part of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia. The group prides itself on delivering personalised care and individual attention in an environment that understands and respects different cultures. In addition to Level 1 and Level 3 government-funded packages, St Basil’s will offer a fee-for-service model in Canberra that applies to any care and support for recipients who would like to have a private arrangement or top up their funded packages.

Dimi Vourliotis, Home and Community Care Manager at St Basil’s, says the organisation took part in an initial trial for consumer directed care in 2010. “We are already offering our clients choice of what services they want, control over how they receive them and who provides the support,” she said.

St Basil’s Home Care services are designed to help seniors live in their own home for as long as possible and enjoy maximum quality of life. Assistance includes everything from help with shopping and housework to everyday chores such as gardening and walking the dog.
