Racecourse Inn Opens at Mercy Place Rice Village After $30,000 Grant

This week, Mercy Place Rice Village officially opened the Racecourse Inn, an in-house bar and activity area at the home.

After months of planning and building, the home now features a bar complete with a billiards table, piano, dart board and beer garden. Named the Racecourse Inn, in memory of the Racecourse Hotel that once stood in the place of Mercy Place Rice Village.

To celebrate the completion of the Racecourse Inn, Mercy Place Rice Village hosted an official opening ceremony to coincide with International Women’s Day, recognising the Rice sisters who, in their Will, donated all of their money, the Hotel and 10 acres of land to help establish a rest home for women in need. Over the years this has become what is now known as Mercy Place Rice Village.  

This new addition to the home has been made possible through a $30,000 grant from the Mercy Health Foundation.
