Families and Friends Celebrate Seaton Place Opening

It is the latest in a long line of highly regarded, family owned, McKenzie Aged Care Communities and the first to be located in coastal Cleveland. 

The official opening of Seaton Place started with a Welcome to Country by Qu Andamooka elder, Auntie Joanne Clayborn, watched by families, friends, staff as well as dignitaries from federal and local government.

Before unveiling the plaque, Dr Andrew Laming, member for Bowman, delivered a rousing speech. He spoke of Seaton Place being a world class facility that would benefit all residents and also boost employment in the region’s aged care sector. By the enthusiastic applause that followed everyone agreed, including Hon Santo Santora and Cr Peter Mitchell from Redlands City Council.

Music was provided by Lauren, Melissa, Naomi and Sammy from Cleveland’s District State High School.

A cake was cut by resident Denise Morris and over 40 residents are already settled in and loving their new home. Denise was joined by Mary-Ann McKenzie, one of the founding family members, who remain committed to providing care as only a family can.

Of course, the best was yet to come, with everyone being invited inside for a tour of this stunning aged care community.

As visitors were escorted around Seaton Place, which literally means “place by the sea”, they noted the wonderful interior design that was heavily inspired by the picturesque coastal environment.

Like all McKenzie Aged Care Communities, Seaton Place boasts lush gardens, light-filled lounges, an inviting café and even its own Wellness Centre, for all kinds of therapies.

However, it was the spacious rooms that were the highlight of the tour, complete with couples’ suites that can be used for singles who want even more space.
