Bolton Clarke's Centaur Memorial residential aged care community in Caloundra has held their annual Christmas Concert with performances from live entertainment duo The Pinkies, rockabilly dancing, children from the Sunshine Dance Academy and plus Santa delivering presents with help from family members.
The Christmas party is a special event for residents, family, friends and staff members and is one of the most anticipated days on Centaur Memorial’s very full social calendar.
Diversional Therapist Pam Grieg has been holding resident Christmas parties at the site for 25 years now and says they just keep getting better and better.
“The residents absolutely love the day – there is live music, entertainment, dancing, raffles, Christmas lunch plus everyone’s favourite Santa Claus,” she said.
“Our volunteer Dale Burgess dresses up as Santa and with the help of the grandchildren he hands out gifts for everyone.
“We try to incorporate family members into as many activities as possible, another favourite event is Grandchildren’s Christmas Cooking Day where children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren come in to make Christmas treats.”
But the Christmas fun does not stop there, the site dedicates the month of December to Christmas based activities including Carols by Candlelight, Volunteer Christmas Morning Tea, trips to see Christmas lights, shopping trips to Christmas markets and more.
