Bringing the Magic and Beauty of Music to Freedom Aged Care

on Wednesday, April 4, 2018

Last week, residents from Freedom Aged Care Glen Waverley enjoyed a ‘Classical Soiree’ along with their friends & family and neighbours from Aveo Oak Tree village.

Residents at Freedom Aged Care Glen Waverley absolutely love everything to do with music, but they have a special place in their hearts for renowned Dutch violinist and conductor Andrè Rieu. “I love watching Andrè Rieu, especially listening to his music and watching his spectacular show” – Evelyn (96 years young).

Andre Rieu may not have been there, but as a great alternative staff organised two performers to attend and entertain residents, including a string quartet trio and a soprano singer.  The community dining area was set up in a cabaret style and residents loved watching the performances, all while sitting back, relaxing and enjoying some champagne and nibbles.

After enjoying the performances it was time to cap off the afternoon with a delicious three course meal, which was prepared by the onsite team.

For the majority of the residents at Freedom Aged Care Glen Waverley, a lack of mobility can make it hard to get out and about regularly, which is why this was the perfect way of bringing the beauty and magic of music to life in the Freedom Aged Care community.
