Care Training Costs Slashed in WA

on Thursday, November 28, 2019

Aged, home and community, allied health and disability care courses available from the Amana Living Training Institute (ALTI) are now half price thanks to an initiative of the WA State Government.

‘Lower Fees, Local Skills’ is a two-year program designed to make training more affordable in order to develop skills and employment opportunities in WA’s priority industry areas. From 1 January 2020, students or their employers will pay half the standard course fees for a number of specially selected qualifications.

Certificate courses available from the Amana Living Training Institute (ALTI) that are eligible for the 50 percent fee reduction include:

Course fees will be capped per year so that the maximum course fees will be only $1,200 or $400 if the student is eligible for a concession or is under the age of 25.

Rathini Sonnadara, Business Manager, Amana Living Training Institute said, “We know aged care employers are calling out for more staff with Certificate II and III qualifications. These significant fee reductions make training more affordable for students who are new to the sector but also for staff who want to upgrade their existing qualifications.”

‘Lower Fees, Local Skills’ will stimulate training in key growth areas and support the sectors that are important to the diversification of the WA economy.  The WA State Training Plan 2018–2021 identified social assistance and allied health as a priority area in response to the growing demands for aged and disability care in the State and the clear need to increase the number of skilled workers in the sector.

The fee reduction will apply for training undertaken between January 2020 through to 31 December 2021. To learn more, contact the Amana Living Training Institute on 1300 492 703.
