Aveo Partners with Opal Healthcare on Residential Aged Care

on Monday, December 13, 2021

Aveo has formed a strategic partnership with Opal HealthCare to build out its commitment to providing a holistic continuum of care for their customers based on their needs.

Opal HealthCare, one of the most reputable providers of care communities in Australia, are now the owner operator of Oxley Grove Care Community (formerly Aveo Durack Aged Care) and Newstead Grand Care Community (formerly Aveo Newstead Aged Care) in Queensland, Croydon Grove Care Community (previously Aveo Mingarra Hostel) in Victoria, and Bayview Treetops Care Community (previously Aveo Minkara Aged Care) in New South Wales.

This strategic partnership also includes the transfer of two development sites to Opal HealthCare. One is at The Clayfield in Brisbane, where the plan is to build a new residential aged care community to complete the continuum-of-care offering.

The other is alongside Croydon Grove Care Community, providing the opportunity for development of a larger, modern residential aged care community to service the growing retirement community and local area needs.

As part of the newly formed strategy, Aveo’s focus is now on its 92 Retirement Living communities across Australia and the delivery of Home Care services. Aveo plans to invest in and grow the ‘Care at Home’ offering from 1,000 Care Packages under management to 2,000 by 2023.

Aveo CEO Tony Randello said, “Welcoming Opal HealthCare to our co-located retirement living communities strengthens the full continuum of care offer for customers: independent retirement living, support and care services in the home, and with the reassurance of residential aged care when and if it is needed.

“We wish to invest in and grow our ‘Care at Home’ offering to support the growing needs of residents who are looking to live independently at home in one of our retirement living communities for as long as possible.”

The transition to higher care is where Aveo and Opal HealthCare’s collaboration will come to bear. The two companies will work together to better support residents who need or wish to move to a residential aged care community, and residents will benefit from more options than they had previously.

Mr. Randello said, “Aveo and Opal HealthCare share many cultural similarities and are strongly aligned in our commitment to putting our customers first and providing services with care, dignity and respect”.

Transfer of ownership of the four residential aged care communities to Opal HealthCare is effective as of 1 December 2021.
