Catholic Homes' ‘Aged Care Angel’ Celebrated for Dedication and Commitment

on Thursday, December 16, 2021

A new award to recognise and celebrate the aged care workforce has been presented at Catholic Homes. Hotel Services worker Chantelle Gare received an Aged Care Angel Award this week for her dedication and commitment to residents and colleagues at Ocean Star Aged Care in Bunbury.

“Chantelle is the first person to volunteer for activities to provide meaningful experiences for our residents,” said Executive Manager Residential Care Services Donna Kelly.

“She leads by example by adhering to our values and vision of joy, love and especially, hospitality. Her smile warms the hearts of all our residents.”

Chantelle joined Ocean Star five years ago and works at the residence in its hospitality team.

She is currently organising a sensory garden for Ocean Star residents which, in the new year, will transform an outdoor courtyard into a friendly space where people can gather, share stories and have fun.

“I thrive on making residents happy,” said Chantelle.

Ocean Star Facility Manager Evelyn Dyer said Chantelle is a valued member of the team and residents love her.

In addition to winning a $500 gift card, Chantelle receives a SPC product hamper and 10 ready-made meals from The Good Meal Company.

Aged Care Angels is an inaugural award from suppliers SPC, Provital, Hello Care and The Good Meal Company to promote good works in the aged care sector.
