To celebrate Aged Care Employee Day, Arcare Aged Care hosted events across their 47 aged care residences in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria by recognising long service team members and announcing the inaugural Star Awards nominations.
Aged Care Employee Day is an initiative of the Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA). It is an annual celebration supporting and honouring Australia's residential, home and community aged care workers.
“We appreciate the hard work that our team members have put in everyday to ensure that our residents receive the best care and every single one of them are special to the Arcare community,” Arcare CEO Colin Singh shared.
This year, Arcare is also celebrating 25 years of delivering outstanding residential aged care. In 25 years, Arcare has grown to over 4,500 beds and over 5,000 team members across Australia.
Long service team members such as Lifestyle Coordinator Cristina (Arcare Kanwal NSW) and Carer Manpreet (Arcare Cheltenham VIC) celebrated ten years with Arcare.
“I can’t believe I’ve been here for ten years. But I think I can speak on everyone’s behalf that you’re not going to stay if you don’t like where you work. I love our Arcare Kanwal team!” Cristina said.
‘The Stars’ are Arcare's team member recognition awards, designed to discover and recognise team members in each state who have gone above and beyond for their residents, families and fellow team members.
The five categories are:
Carer Noch has been with Arcare Keysborough VIC for five years and was recognised as Star Carer in the state for her dedication and commitment in providing 5-star care to her residents.
“I want to thank all the family members and staff members; I feel absolutely at home here and our lovely clients are like our family, so it has been a pleasure looking after them,” Noch shared. “Since working in aged care, I feel that I’ve been supported and looked after by the team here. They really care about us and I’m feel like I belong here.”
With 22 years of aged care experience under her belt, Krystal at Arcare Logan Reserve QLD felt ‘very honoured to win’ Star Clinician for the state.
“To me, this award shows that I am seen and heard and that means a lot to me. Working at Arcare means working with a family; we have an amazing team that is supportive and hard-working.” Krystal said.
Described as always seeing the good in people and encouraging others to do the same, Maintenance Officer Ray works tirelessly in his role as Maintenance Officer at Arcare Glenhaven NSW. He was recognised as the State’s Star Environmental for his unwavering support to the community. “I’m very proud and happy to have won and I thank everyone.” Ray shared.
Other winners included:
“Our thanks go beyond words and we are genuinely grateful to all our team members for what they have contributed to Arcare, especially over these past couple of years,” Colin shared.
In line with this year’s Aged Care Employee Day theme of #ThanksforCaring, families and residents were also invited to share their messages of thanks with Arcare team members. Here are the excerpts:
