Regis Employee Awarded OAM for Service to Aged Welfare

on Tuesday, June 27, 2023

Regis, a leading provider of aged care services, is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of one of its exceptional employees, Chris Grady, who was recently awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his exceptional service to aged welfare.

Chris’ receipt of this prestigious accolade serves as a testament to his lifelong commitment and the profound impact he has made on the lives of others.

"This recognition represents the culmination of my life's work and the fulfillment I find in serving others,” Chris said. “It is my hope that it inspires another young individual, like a younger version of myself, to follow their dreams."

Chris embarked on his Regis journey in 2011, joining as the Lifestyle Coordinator for Regis Armadale in Victoria. During his tenure, he garnered two notable accolades—the 2016 Lifestyle and Leisure Award and the 2017 National Award for Outstanding Facility Services.

Following a two-year sabbatical from Regis, he rejoined the organisation as the Club Service Manager at Regis East Malvern.

Chris’ affinity for creating a positive and engaging environment drew him to the aged care sector.

"I wanted to be able to work in a community that is nurturing and enables me to support and nurture our elderly residents to live full, productive lives."

As a Club Service Manager at Regis, Chris’ typical day mirrors that of a hotel concierge, attentively tending to the diverse needs of residents, ensuring their utmost satisfaction.

He values the opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and enjoys being part of a supportive team at Regis.

“Working with the older community brings me immense joy and inspiration,” Chris said. "I love it. They have so much to offer and they are so inspirational.”

“The wisdom, experiences, and resilience of the elderly residents continually motivates and enriches my life.”

Chris has advice for those considering a career in aged care: “Be prepared to work hard and know that you are making a difference on a daily basis.”

“The rewarding nature of the work requires dedication, compassion, and a genuine desire to positively impact the lives of others.”

Outside of work, Chris loves spending time with his family and friends. He indulges in dining experiences, savouring life's pleasures, and enjoys leisurely walks with his beloved whippets.

Regis extends its heartfelt congratulations to Chris for his well-deserved recognition and expresses sincere gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the aged care sector.

His inspiring story serves as a reminder of the transformative influence that dedicated individuals can have on the lives of elderly residents.
