Life at Burpengary Manor

on Wednesday, February 7, 2024

Ever wondered what life at our home looks like? For residents at Burpengary Manor, no two days are the same. With a range of activities and events happening round the clock, there’s always something for residents to look forward to.

We understand that placing a loved one into care can be a difficult decision often associated with guilt and stress, and that finding the right home is important. Rest assured, we are dedicated to ensuring a positive and supportive environment for our residents' well-being.

For Burpengary Manor resident, Christine Sigfrid, making the move into care came with hesitation. However, since moving in, she shares with us what the transition was like, and what she loves most about living at the home.

Christine begins her story by sharing her feelings of unease and uncertainty about making the move into aged care, which is a very common feeling for all new residents.

‘I was very nervous of the unknown and unsure of being away from my family,’ she says candidly.

However, those feelings are now in the past, as Christine's days are now filled with activities that bring joy and fulfilment. ‘I like to attend bingo and hoy, the concerts/entertainers, and I love it when we have animals visit,’ she shares. ‘I enjoy going to the café for a cappuccino or hot chocolate on a Saturday night.’ To conclude, she notes, ’There is always someone around to help assist you when help is needed,’ highlighting the supportive nature of our care team. Christine also shares that the ‘gardens are beautiful and well-maintained. We have a mulberry tree down the back, and it has lovely fruit we get to enjoy.’

Christine compares life at Burpengary Manor to being a guest– a place where you receive all the care you need without lifting a finger. ‘It's like being a guest; you don't have to do any housework,’ she says. A distinctive feature at Burpengary Manor for Christine is that it didn’t take long for her to feel at home with new friendships forming. ‘I have a group of friends who I like to socialise with, we will sit in the lounge and chat while having our morning and afternoon teas, at mealtime and when attending activities,’ she says.

In her reflections, Christine appreciates the dedicated staff at Burpengary Manor and how they provide the best care to residents. ‘The staff are friendly, sympathetic, there are some staff who go above and beyond their role,’ she notes.

When asked about what she would say to someone who is perhaps looking to place their loved one into care at Burpengary Manor, Christine responds, ‘I would highly recommend it.’
