BlueCross Group has officially merged with Opal HealthCare, one of Australia's leading aged care providers. This union brings together two esteemed organisations, enhancing Opal HealthCare's ability to offer comprehensive care across 133 Care Communities in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and Western Australia. With this expansion, Opal HealthCare now boasts a team of 17,000 dedicated professionals caring for over 12,000 residents and clients.
Opal HealthCare is guided by its core values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. CEO Rachel Argaman expressed her enthusiasm in welcoming the BlueCross team, residents, clients, and their representatives into the Opal HealthCare family.
"At Opal HealthCare, we strive to provide excellent clinical care and foster a sense of love, purpose, and belonging for our residents," Argaman stated. "We are privileged to inherit the remarkable 30-year legacy of BlueCross in Victoria. We believe companies don’t succeed, people do. In that spirit, we know we will be Better Together. This is an exciting time for our two great organisations – now one Opal HealthCare family."
Most of the BlueCross staff have already transitioned to Opal HealthCare, ensuring continuity of the high-quality care that residents and families expect. Team members will also benefit from enhanced training and development opportunities through the Opal HealthCare Academy. This initiative provides defined career pathways in aged care, supported by comprehensive leadership training, development programs, and scholarships for further studies, available to all Opal HealthCare employees.
In the coming months, the 31 BlueCross Care Communities will be renamed and rebranded as Opal HealthCare locations. These communities are situated in Avondale Heights, Box Hill, Brighton, Camberwell, Caulfield North, Chelsea, Cheltenham, Cowes, Croydon, East Camberwell, Glenroy, Ivanhoe, Kew, Kilmore, Lower Templestowe, Malvern East, Mill Park, Mooroolbark, Mordialloc, Mount Waverley, Mulgrave, Northcote, Oakleigh South, Preston, Sandringham, Sunshine, Surrey Hills, Templestowe, and Vermont South.
"We look forward to extending our high-quality care and services to more older Victorians," Argaman added, "and continuing our culture of bringing joy to those we care for."
