Navigating the Support at Home Transition

The Australian Government’s Support at Home program is set to replace Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care from 1 July 2025. Designed to improve in-home aged care services, this new program introduces updated assessment processes, service classifications, and funding structures to ensure seniors receive care tailored to their individual needs.

What’s Changing?

• New Assessment & Classification System: A single assessment process will determine eligibility and funding levels based on care needs.
• Quarterly Budgets: Instead of annual funding, care budgets will be distributed quarterly for greater flexibility.
• Faster Access to Services: Wait times for care will gradually reduce, with a target of three months by 2027.
• Expanded Care Options: More funding for home modifications, assistive technology, and end-of-life care.
