Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA), Baptist Care SA and BaptistCare (NSW, ACT, WA), have united to become Australia’s third largest integrated care and service provider. The successful completion of the merger was announced this week and the new entity will be known as BaptistCare.
BaptistCare now has over 12,000 employees and offers retirement living and aged care, community housing and family and community services to over 38,000 customers across New South Wales, the ACT, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.
BaptistCare has welcomed a new Executive Leadership team , helmed by CEO Charles Moore (formerly the CEO of BaptistCare NSW, ACT, WA). The new organisation’s Board will be led by Tim Farren (formerly Chair of the Baptcare Board) as Chair, and Robert Dunn (formerly Chair of the BaptistCare Board) as the Vice Chair.
Mr Farren said he was delighted to announce that the merger has been legally completed but there is a long road ahead to bring the organisations together and realise the benefits.
“This is such an important day in the combined 270-year legacy of three wonderful organisations. We have a shared mission to strengthen communities by valuing people and supporting them to have hope, dignity and a fullness of life. As we move forward, our focus is on continuing to improve outcomes for those we serve.”
“The sectors we operate in are under increasing pressure and scrutiny but coming together gives us the opportunity to enhance services to customers as well as provide greater choice, flexibility and diversity of services, and increase advocacy for vulnerable people and communities.”
Mr Moore added that he is excited about the prospect of bringing the organisations together under their shared mission.
"This merger is about much more than pooling resources; it's a bold but necessary step to amplify our advocacy and impact at a time when Australians need it most. With increasing demand for services and mounting regulatory pressures, BaptistCare is uniquely positioned to champion sustainable solutions, from aged care to affordable housing and homelessness, to retirement living. We're committed to our incredible team and providing a great employee experience, using our voice and our expertise to drive change, securing essential funding, and pushing boundaries to ensure no individual or community is left behind."
The new organisation will continue to provide the broad range of services that current customers value and depend on, including family and community services, retirement living, residential aged care, home care, community and affordable housing, disability support, foster care, chaplaincy and spiritual care, and mental health services.
