Love, Laughter, and a Lifeline: How Care Connect Made the Difference

When Janice and Geoff first met, it was in the busy, noisy kitchen of a frail care centre where Janice worked as the cook and Geoff was a nurse. Geoff had a playful way of getting Janice’s attention by pulling the springs on her apron—little moments like these, and Geoff’s support of Janice as she gained her community nursing certification, created a bond that lasted. They’ve been married now for 29 years, and as a couple, they’ve faced a lot of changes in life, including the decision to seek in-home aged care support.

Geoff and Janice were originally Care Connect clients, but decided to change to another provider. When they first made the switch, they thought it was the right move. But they found that their services stopped, and they were left feeling frustrated and neglected. “It was the worst mistake we ever made,” says Geoff. “The grass isn’t always greener. You learn from your mistakes.” 

Feeling unsupported, they decided to return to Care Connect, the provider they had originally trusted. It didn’t take long for them to realise how much they’d missed it. “Now we’re 102% happy,” Geoff smiles, the relief clear in his voice. 

One of the things they love most about Care Connect is their Care Manager, Sid. “Sid’s been really good to us,” says Geoff, his voice warm. “He’s made our life easier again. He’s a mate to us.” Sid doesn’t just provide professional care—he provides something much more important: a sense of reassurance and a reminder that they’re not alone in this journey.

The care team at Care Connect is always there when they need them. “The people on the phone at Care Connect are lovely,” Geoff says, noting how easy it is to connect with someone who understands their needs and makes them feel heard and valued. 

With the right support in place, Janice and Geoff are able to live independently at home—something they both value deeply. “It was good to go back and get fit again,” says Geoff. Regular exercise and staying active are key to their daily routine, and with Care Connect’s help, they’re able to maintain a healthy lifestyle. 

Janice and Geoff’s care network extends beyond Care Connect, too.  They take very good care of each other, with Janice describing Geoff as “such a beautiful person”, and share a strong bond.  Every year, they take a cruise together— confirmation that with the right support, life doesn’t slow down. They’re living proof that with trust, confidence, and the right team behind you, there’s no limit to what you can do. 

For Janice and Geoff, returning to Care Connect was about more than just services —it was about finding the support that truly makes a difference.
