Curtin Heritage Living is proud to announce its Cottesloe redevelopment has received two prestigious awards at the Australian Institute of Architects Western Australian Architecture Awards. The annual Awards recognise excellence in architecture, providing an opportunity for public and peer recognition while providing the Institute a valuable way to promote architects and architecture in WA, across Australia, and internationally.
The Curtin Heritage Living redevelopment took out two honours at the official awards ceremony at Beaumonde on the Point last month.

The development is now in the running for the Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Awards, set to be announced later in the year. The Cottesloe redevelopment is a landmark project transforming retirement living and residential aged care.
The design features a mix of deluxe retirement residences and highcare suites, with a low-rise structure that steps back from Marine Parade to follow the land's natural contours. The buildings incorporate organic curves that reflect the beachfront, offering spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and using coastal-inspired materials like Donnybrook sandstone and sand-coloured polished plaster.
The new buildings embrace three restored heritage-listed buildings, constructed between 1896 and 1909, and designed by the notable architect Percy William Harrison in the Federation Queen Anne style.
Characterised by its charming candle-snuffer roof and elevated balconies that overlook the ocean, its reincarnation introduces several new spaces. These include a club lounge, a boardroom, a maker space, and a 40-seat cinema with an adjoining lobby, which host arts and cultural programs for both residents and the wider community.
"The Cottesloe redevelopment is the largest project ever undertaken in Cottesloe and has become an iconic success story for both Curtin Heritage Living and its residents," says David Cox, Managing Director, Curtin Heritage Living.
“Winning these awards is a tremendous recognition of the care, research, and respect our architects and our team brought to every detail. We’re proud to have breathed new life into a treasured site and piece of local history.”
