IRT Group has recently announced the appointment of Ross Gallagher as IRT CEO, ushering in a new chapter of leadership focused on stability, innovation and purpose-driven growth. The appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process led by IRT’s Board of Directors and reflects his successful tenure as Interim IRT CEO since May 2025.
With more than two decades of executive leadership experience across aged care, retirement living, health and technology, Ross brings a clear vision for IRT’s future – one that honours the organisation’s proud 55-year legacy while embracing new opportunities to meet the evolving needs of older Australians.
IRT Chair Peter Fitzgerald said Ross’ appointment affirms the Board’s confidence in his ability to lead with integrity, clarity and ambition.
“This marks a new and exciting era for IRT – one where we continue to build on our strong legacy, but with renewed focus and energy for the future,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
“Ross brings a powerful blend of experience, empathy and strategic thinking. He understands who we are, where we’ve been, and exactly where we need to go next. We’re excited to see IRT’s next chapter unfold under his leadership.”
Ross first joined IRT in 2019 as Executive General Manager – Home Care, with his portfolio later expanding to also include Retirement Living. Over the past six years, he’s been instrumental in shaping IRT’s strategic direction, guiding the organisation through periods of change, while strengthening its foundations for the future.
He is deeply committed to IRT’s mission and has earned the trust and respect of colleagues across the organisation for his calm, collaborative and people-centred leadership style.
“It’s a privilege to step into this role and lead IRT at such a pivotal time,” Mr Gallagher said.
“We have a strong foundation, a passionate team and a deep sense of purpose. I’m excited to build on all that’s been achieved and to shape what comes next – a future where older Australians feel empowered, supported and genuinely cared for.”
Ross’s appointment signals a confident step forward for IRT as it continues to evolve and grow – delivering high-quality care and services that reflect both the expectations of today and the possibilities of tomorrow.
Under his leadership, IRT will remain focused on what matters most: supporting older Australians to age with dignity, connection and purpose, while driving innovation to keep our communities strong, sustainable and future-ready.
