Alzheimer’s Australia is encouraging people to participate in their ‘Bring it to the Table’ fundraiser to raise money for Alzheimer’s Australia’s fight against dementia.

Alzheimer’s Australia is asking people across Australia to invite their friends, family members or work colleagues for a high tea, sit-down dinner, games night or picnic in June, to help raise awareness of dementia and raise funds for services and research. Alzheimer’s Australia has over 20 fundraising ideas on their website to spread the word about dementia in the community and raise funds which may one day lead to a cure for the disease.

Alzheimer’s Australia will be asking Australians to do something different this year for Valentine’s Day, by planting a memory to help join the fight against dementia.

Alzheimer’s Australia will be running a Valentine’s Day event across all of Australia’s states and territories, where people will be invited to add a memory to a memory tree to show their support for Alzheimer’s Australia’s ‘Fight Dementia’ campaign.

 

Understanding Aged Care: It’s a Tough Road for Seniors living with HIV

Seniors living with HIV are still suffering from a lack of education among professionals in the aged care industry, according to a recent forum dedicated to the issue which ran in New Farm, Queensland.

The forum addressed the impact that HIV has on people who are ageing, with studies showing that conditions associated with ageing including cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, cardio vascular, kidney and liver disease are more common in a 55 year old living with HIV than a 75 year old living without HIV.
