1 in 4 Australian adults (over 25) have diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Diabetes costs Australia over $1 million per hour

7.2 million pharmaceutical scripts were claimed for diabetes medicines in 2011. These statistics show that a lot of Australians have diabetes, and aged/home and community/disability care workers are likely to meet a patient who has the condition in their line of work.

 

Aged Care News: National Diability Insurance Scheme Still Not Across the Line

Carlton Captain Chris Judd and leading aged care providers will take part in the Every Australian Counts cycling challenge to showcase support for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS has still only been committed to pilot funding by State Governments, meaning only 40,000 Australians will receive funding, when in reality over 400,000 Australians are living with a disability.
