Home Care is in-home nursing care for elderly people who wish to remain living in their own homes.
An elderly person may require home care if they are struggling to live independently but do not need 24 hour care in residential aged care.
Home Care services may include help with taking medications, cooking meals, laundry, light house work, gardening, help with dressing or showering and many other personal services to make living at home easier.
A variety of Home Care programs are Government funded, although private home care can be organised from many aged care providers for a fee.
The following Home Care packages are available from providers around Australia:
- Level 1: basic level care needs
- Level 2: low level care needs
- Level 3: intermediate level care needs
- Level 4: high level care needs
Social assistance to remain active in the community may also be provided or temporary in-home respite care.
