on Friday, May 30, 2025

NDIS Minister Hon. Jenny McAllister visited leading NSW provider My Guardian, meeting with leadership, frontline staff, and NDIS participants. The visit highlighted the power of person-centred care and the importance of government listening to lived experiences in shaping disability services.

The team at My Guardian was honoured to welcome Hon. Jenny McAllister, Minister for the NDIS, along with Zhi Soon MP, Member for Banks, for a visit to our office. During her time with us, Minister McAllister met with members of our leadership team, including CEO Jad Haber, Managing Director Diala Azzi, and Chairman Hon. John Ajaka, and was given a guided overview of our operations and the personalised disability support services My Guardian provides across New South Wales.

The visit provided an intimate look into My Guardian’s daily operations and offered the Minister the opportunity to engage directly with NDIS participants, carers and frontline staff, giving a voice to the lived experiences of those navigating the disability support system.

One particularly moving moment came during an unplanned conversation with the mother of an NDIS participant who happened to be onsite. Their discussion reflected the challenges, hopes and resilience of families supported through the NDIS, a testament to the impact personalised, consistent care can have on people’s lives.

“We are grateful for leaders like Minister McAllister who take the time to engage with real stories and listen to the people we support,” said Jad Haber, CEO of My Guardian. “Her visit is a reminder of how policy and care must always remain connected.”

During her tour of the facility, the Minister was shown how My Guardian delivers its comprehensive range of disability care and NDIS support services, including Supported Independent Living (SIL), Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), and in-home care. The visit also highlighted My Guardian’s commitment to culturally responsive care, with services delivered in over 80 languages across New South Wales.

As one of the state’s leading NDIS providers, My Guardian supports thousands of individuals and families across NSW with a person-centred approach built on trust, inclusion, and compassion.

The visit underscored the importance of collaboration between government, providers, and the community to ensure the NDIS continues to evolve and deliver on its promise, not just in systems, but in real outcomes for real people.

“Minister McAllister’s warmth, genuine compassion, and willingness to engage with participants and staff left a lasting impression on all of us,” said Diala Azzi, Managing Director. “This kind of engagement gives us hope and reaffirms the value of what we do every day.”

As the care sector continues to grow, moments like these are a timely reminder that the heart of disability support lies in understanding, empathy, and action values that My Guardian proudly upholds.
