Nestled within Monash Health’s vibrant Kingston Centre in Heatherton, Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre, meaning “butterflies” in the Kulin Nation language, symbolises transformation and the journey of life. The name, kindly gifted by the Bunurong Land Council, perfectly captures the ethos of this state-of-the-art public aged care home. 

This purpose-built facility is Victoria’s largest new public residential aged care centre, with construction finalised in August 2025. The $139.6 million, four-storey complex comprises 150 modern single suites, each featuring a private ensuite, offering residents both comfort and privacy. 

Every floor is thoughtfully arranged into small “household” groupings, each with its own colour scheme, unique artwork for wayfinding, and dedicated kitchen, dining, and lounge areas. These familiar, homely environments support independence, reduce anxiety, and foster meaningful connection among residents.

• Community rooms and sacred spaces for reflection and gatherings
• Theatre room, gym, and rehabilitation area for engagement and wellbeing
• Landscaped gardens, terraces, and vegetable patches to enjoy nature’s restorative effects
• Advanced ventilation with ‘pandemic mode’ to enhance safety during health emergencies 

Residents benefit from seamless access to Monash Health’s integrated health services, such as memory clinics, falls and balance support, and age-appropriate mental health services, ensuring continuity of care tailored to complex needs.
