Canberra Aged Care Facility offers a safe and caring environment, catering to the needs of a wide range of elderly residents. Our fully qualified staff offers a wealth of experience as well as specialising in dementia care.
Canberra Aged Care Facility offers both permanent resident placement and short term respite care placement.
Nursing and Allied Health Services
Registered nursing staff are rostered over the full 24-hour period aided by certified nursing assistants at all times to deliver comfort to both the resident and their family with the knowledge that their loved one is in good hands.
A case management module is implemented so that an RN oversees individual resident assessment and ongoing care. Residents have access to allied health professionals i.e. gerontologist, physiotherapist, podiatrist, dietician, speech pathologist, dentist and others. Each resident has own choice of attending general practitioner.
Hospitality Services
All of our meals are cooked on site by the facility chef, who can cater for every taste. Menus are varied and all food is cooked fresh daily. All laundry is washed on site, folded and delivered to the rooms.
The cleanliness and maintenance of the facility is managed by a dedicated team of on-site contract cleaners.
Activities
We have a diverse activity program that is tailored to the wants and needs of residents. Most of our residents respond positively to the Music Therapist, other residents to the Art therapist, Soft Tissue Therapist and recreational activities offered by the Recreational Activities Officers.
Some examples of activities are: hand massages, manicures, group activities or one on one with craft, bingo, quizzes, outings, exercises, news reading and celebrations of cultural days.
SINGLE ROOM Room with no ensuite. The Kankinya facility offers modern, well maintained rooms including ducted heating and cooling, nurse call system, electric bed, fan, window and curtain, secure wardrobe and locker, reading light and fire detection and sprinkler system. Room size 11.31m2.

Kankinya Lodge is a new addition to our services and offers superior and spacious ensuite bedroom, self controlled airconditioning and quality widow furnishings for privacy and blockout when required. Residents enjoy the peaceful surroundings with all amentities. The average room size is 19m2.

Gertrud Wilhelmina van de Laarschot, nee Schoonbrood passed away at 7:23 am on 28 August 2024 at the Canberra Aged Care facility in Lyneham Canberra ACT. She passed away peacefully and was in no discomfort through the care she received from the doctors, nurses and aged care staff at Lyneham. Throughout her lifetime she was beloved by everyone who had the opportunity to have met her and adored by her family as she was the heart of the family through the love that she gave to every family member. My mother brought me into this world and I am very happy to have been there as she left this world to be with her two daughters and many other family members. I can’t thank all the staff at Canberra Aged Care enough, you are just incredible
So much bad publicity about aged care but we have been involved with Canberra Aged Care Facility for quite a while and they maintain a quality respectful home that allows my family to sleep at night knowing my family is in good hands. Thank you.

Canberra Aged Care Facility has announced the opening of their 14 brand new, spacious and beautifully furnished ensuite bedrooms. The Chifley Pl extension complements the existing The Lodge, which opened just two years ago and accommodates 32 residents. Canberra Aged Care Facility provides a much needed luxurious entry-level aged care residence on the north side of Canberra.
