Living at home allows your loved one to continue to be involved in their community – even if assistance is needed to do so. They can continue to access their usual shops and places that are important to them and interact with familiar people.

Thanks to technology, ageing in home is easier to support than ever before. Your carers can be chosen to help with tasks such as cooking, caring and cleaning. There are many gadgets to support people to age in home such as movement sensors, smart pill boxes and automatic pill delivery systems. Health data and care related information can efficiently be shared on electronic devices among health care professionals and family members.

Kickstarting careers in aged care at PresCare Maryborough

A group of Year 10 and 11 students from Riverside Christian College is about to start a school-based traineeship and Certificate III in Individual Support using PresCare’s communities as their living classroom. The seven students will undertake a two-year traineeship, initially making use of the training room, but in time working with the PresCare teams so they gain valuable hands-on experience caring for residents.

Leonie Celebrates 40 Years with Resthaven

Leonie Mules, Enrolled Nurse at Resthaven Port Elliot, is this year marking 40 years of employment with Resthaven. ‘I started at Resthaven Bellevue Heights, on a four-week contract,’ Leonie says. ‘And things just went on from there!’ Leonie was recommended the job by her mother, who was working as a cook at the site.
