Community life is rich with activity, entertainment and positive relationships. Volunteers, including students from the local high school, visit regularly, contributing artworks and murals to the native garden where residents spend time relaxing and bird-watching.
BaptistCare Graceford is a peaceful, homely aged care residence located just 30 minutes-drive south-east from Perth, in the beautiful Serpentine-Jarrahdale district. Residents enjoy the seclusion of the natural bushland environment, while still gaining access to some of WA’s best restaurants, art galleries and parks.
The facility has a dementia specific area, controlled 24 hours by highly trained nurses and personal care attendants. The area includes a secure sensory garden to encourage residents to spend their time in the fresh air.
The proactive therapy team develops individualised activity programs catering to the wide range of residents.
Rooms are single with ensuite bathrooms, adjustable beds, curtains, built-in-robes, lockable drawers and a chair. Residents are encouraged to adorn their space with personal belongings to increase feelings of homeliness.

SINGLE ROOM Standard Room with private ensuite. Graceford has 68 single rooms with private ensuites, including 20 dementia specific rooms. All the rooms are in very good condition with excellent paint work and floor coverings. Each room features built-in robes, lockable drawer, chair, adjustable bed, over bed table, and reverse cycle air-conditioning. The majority of rooms overlook courtyards or larger garden spaces. Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA), Baptist Care SA and BaptistCare (NSW, ACT, WA), have united to become Australia’s third largest integrated care and service provider. The successful completion of the merger was announced this week and the new entity will be known as BaptistCare.
Bringing a sense of wonder to residents living with dementia, WA’s first Tovertafel ‘magic table’ has been set up at Baptistcare Graceford Residential Care in Byford.
Music has an incredible effect on both our hearts and our minds. For seniors, particularly those living with dementia, familiar songs from times gone by can remain vivid, triggering memories in a way nothing else can.
