Ultimately, our aim is to promote the independence, lifestyle and social relationships of our residents in a secure and harmonious environment.
At Mayflower we consult with every new resident and their family representative to develop an individually tailored Care Plan that meets the needs and wishes of that resident. This Care Plan is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that Mayflower responds to any changes in health status or requirements.
Special Care Services:
Dementia Care
Our specialised care for residents living with dementia is based on industry best practice principles. We endeavour to involve these residents in meaningful everyday activities that provide stimulation and engagement. The built environment at Brighton provides safe and secure areas including a courtyard garden.
Palliative Care
For our residents needing palliative care we focus, through our individualised Care Plans and consultation process, on meeting the wishes of residents and family members. We promote a safe, quiet and peaceful environment which is dignified, respectful and compassionate for our palliative care residents.
Respite Services
Mayflower Brighton provides families/carers caring for loved ones at home with a safe and secure environment so that they can take a well-earned rest free from the responsibility of day to day care. We welcome our respite residents and ensure that they are supported for the period that they are entrusted to our care.

The Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival brings fun, fashion, and a sense of community, and this year was no exception at Mayflower. Across our homes, residents celebrated in style, embracing the season's spirit with festivities that combined elegance, music, and laughter.
Residents of Mayflower Brighton were treated to an enchanting ‘Under the Sea’ themed party, where the room was completely transformed into an underwater world.
Pete Smith, an Australian TV legend, recently paid a memorable visit to Independent Living Residents at Mayflower Brighton. Known to generations of Aussies as the booming voice behind ‘Sale of the Century,’ Pete’s presence brought a wave of nostalgia to the room.
Ken Keech, an 80+ year-old magician, brought his show ‘Life Really Begins at 80’ to Mayflower Brighton, and what a show it was! Ken’s light comedic style had everyone laughing from start to finish. The performance featured an array of classic magic tricks, from disappearing tables and floating magic tables to a magically appearing ball and chain, each one leaving the audience in awe and amusement.
At Mayflower Edith Bendall, the community recently gathered for a spirited 'Olympics Day', an event that brought together creativity, camaraderie, and a lively sense of competition. The day was a reminder of the joy that comes from shared experiences, with residents, our team, and visiting family members all joining in the fun.
In the spirit of joy and regal cheer, our Mayflower communities came alive with the grand celebration of King Charles's second birthday as our king. This special day brought together residents, families, and staff for an unforgettable event brimming with laughter, music, and delightful treats. From elegant high teas to lively musical performances, each community added its unique touch to the festivities, creating moments that will be cherished for years to come. Here are the highlights of this memorable celebration across our Mayflower Communities!
Mayflower Brighton Independent living resident, Lindsay Cuming, recently celebrated the launch of his memoir, “Been There, Done That! Life On A Roller Coaster.”
The successful launch was held by the Caulfield Grammarians’ Association in November.
As a Caulfield Grammar alumnus, Lindsay’s remarkable journey began at the school in 1936, spanning roles as a student, and much later as President of the School Council.
Celebrating Wilma’s 100 Remarkable Years
In the spirit of celebrating Wilma’s centenary milestone, we reflect on the extraordinary life of this vibrant woman.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Wilma grew up in a bustling household of seven siblings. Her sister Nessie, who reached the remarkable age of 110, once held the title of Australia’s oldest living person, gaining recognition from major media outlets, including the likes of The Project and the Herald Sun where the pair are pictured together.
Nestled within the serene borders of Mayflower Brighton, an enchanting new space of greenery and colour is taking shape, capturing the heart of Christina Andersen's love for gardens. As the mind behind the ‘Christina Garden Extension Project’, Christina paints a narrative of resilience, mindfulness, legacy, and the eternal beauty of life.
