Not many seniors move into aged care after they turn 100, but Theresa Harvey has bucked that trend.
The average age of women moving into care is 85 years, but Theresa was 102 when she recently made the move to Carinity Shalom in Rockhampton.
She was born in Rockhampton in 1922, one of nine children for her parents James and Eleanor Hopkins (nee Nelson).

International Nurses Day is held each year on May 12, a global day of celebration marking the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. Like the famous nursing pioneer, Carinity nurses are selfless and dedicated to supporting people in need in their communities.
A Rockhampton aged care community is celebrating a milestone – and Graham Harvey and Donna Hinchliffe have been there from the start. Graham and Donna were present when Carinity Shalom marked its 20th anniversary with a special function on September 27 attended by around 180 residents, family members, current staff and volunteers, and local politicians.
Caring for seniors is Jenny Boettcher’s passion. The experienced nurse recently celebrated 30 years supporting older Queenslanders, in her role working for Carinity Aged Care. Jenny commenced her career working in aged care in July 1993 at the Carinity Brookfield Green seniors community, then known as Resthaven.
