Carinya in Clare caters for 50 residents, providing for both low and high care needs, as well as a 16-place secure dementia unit. 

With a tree-lined streetscape and parkland adjacent, Carinya in Clare offers peace and tranquillity along with quality care and security.

The Magnolia Room at Carinya is a communal area providing a welcoming, supportive and fun environment with a range of social activities such as bingo, luncheons, concerts, craft and a men’s group. Staff also support residents with barbecues, picnics and bus trips, and there is a lovely community garden space to enjoy.

At Helping Hand, independence is encouraged in maintaining day to day skills, however as increased help is required, our staff will tailor services specific to your needs.

Helping Hand currently has two vacancies within our secure Memory Support Unit at our care home Carinya, in Clare. 

Cosy and comfortable, Carinya has been part of the Clare Valley community for more than half a century. One of the things that makes Carinya so special is its proximity to Clare’s main street which is bustling with shops, cafes, the local public library and other places of heritage interest. This fully accredited facility offers accommodation for up to fifty people and the majority of rooms overlook the gardens, which feature fruit trees, seasonal vegetables and herb gardens, all inspired by the local farming community. All rooms are comfortably furnished with: electric beds, built-in wardrobes, lockable storage, fabric curtains and carpet. In addition, each room is fitted out with wide doors, a nurse call point and an individually controlled air conditioning system.

As well as the need to have Aged Care Assessment approval, South Australian law also requires that anyone who moves in to a secure Memory Support Unit also needs to have Special Powers Orders in place, which can be applied for through the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT): https://www.sacat.sa.gov.au/get-started/guardianship/special-powers

Helping Hand Achieves Inclusive Employer Status, Exceeding National Benchmark

In October 2022, Helping Hand were awarded Inclusive Employer status by the Diversity Council of Australia. 119 staff took part in the survey. According to the Diversity Council of Australia (DCA), everyone benefits when an organisation takes action to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
