Home Nursing and Care Services
 
mecwacare Home Nursing and Care Services specialise in home-based support and care to promote wellbeing and independence for people of all ages including older people, people with disabilities, and people living with dementia. From as little as one hour per week to 24 hour live-in care, mecwacare Home Nursing and Care Services meet individual needs. After hours support is also available on call.

Home Nursing

Comprehensive assessments are provided for all clients to identify:

• Client’s immediate nursing needs
• Areas where other services may be able to assist.
• Education and management options to enhance client’s independence.
• Most assessments are completed within 72 hours of referral.

mecwacare is an approved provider of Post Acute Care, Home and Community Care (HACC) and Veterans Community Nursing. 

Home Support Services
mecwacare team of qualified personal carers provides quality in home support and care to promote independence and well being for people of all ages and abilities. 

These services are available across Victoria 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are tailored to meet the needs of each individual. mecwacare is an approved provider of Home and Community Care (HACC). 

mecwacare home support services include: 

Personal Care
mecwacare step in and support when simple daily tasks like showering, dressing, grooming, preparing meals and shopping are too difficult to manage. 

Home Care
Help with general household tasks including cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, laundry and ironing is available seven days per week

Home Maintenance
For residents of Cardinia Shire, mecwacare can assist with minor repairs around the home and basic maintenance. A home modification service including installation of rails and ramps is available following assessment by an Occupational Therapist.

Shopping and Transport
Whether it’s a medical appointment, social outing, shopping or just meeting for a friendly cup of coffee mecwacare can get you there and home again. 

Respite Care
Sometimes carers need a break. Respite includes help with light household tasks, personal care or companionship. Overnight and 24 hour live-in care are also available.

Private Care Packages 
mecwacare tailors private care packages to provide care and support, allowing older people and those with disabilities to continue to live independently at home or with family.

mecwacare will develop your private care package to save you time, money and stress. mecwacare will assess individual needs and match them with appropriate community care options.

• Transport and escort to appointments
• Pet care such as walking the dog
• Paying bills
• Social outings including support and assistance at family functions

mecwacare private care packages are charged on a weekly basis to eliminate the confusion of hourly rates. Prices start from $150 per week and are designed to suit every budget. Additional care can be purchased when required and all packages include phone service coordination.

Carer Respite 
The National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP) supports the primary carer for frail older people and people with disabilities. mecwacare provides a National Respite for Carers Program throughout the City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia. 

Sometimes carers need to take a break. mecwacare provides short term and ongoing flexible respite for carers of any age of the following roles:

• Carers of people with dementia;
• Carers of people with a degenerative or chronic condition;
• Carers of people with a disability.

Respite may include help with light household tasks, personal care or simple companionship. Overnight and 24 hours live-in care are also available. mecwacare develops an individual plan for every client featuring a mix of the following services:

• In home support and care;
• Planned activity groups;
• Delivered meals;
• Transport;
• Social support;
• Community outings.

mecwacare staff are professionally qualified to provide support and care to the highest standard. A small client contribution is negotiated based on your capacity to pay. Services will not be refused due to financial hardship.
