Residential Aged Care with optimal choice
mecwacare’s Residential Aged Care services offer 24-hour high quality care and lifestyle choices for older people. Our aged care centres provide ageing in place accommodation (where possible) and respite care facilities. Our centres offer a supportive, safe and secure environment for residents to maximize each resident’s quality of life. The level of care required by each resident is assessed before and on entry and is monitored on an ongoing basis. Our residents have access to services including 24-hour nursing, medical practitioners, podiatrists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and dietitians.
Social and recreational activities are planned in response to the interests, requests and choices expressed by our residents. Regular activities include outings, movie sessions, music, quizzes and many other opportunities to socialise. Hairdressing services are available onsite and any other services can be arranged according to the wishes of the residents.
198 residents receive quality care at the Noel Miller Centre in Glen Iris and the Sir Donald & Lady Trescowthick Centre in Prahran. mecwacare supports residents’ lifestyle, hobbies and interest in a comfortable, home-like environment. mecwacare residential aged care centres are fully accredited by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency. To ensure the highest standards of care, mecwacare works closely with health and community service providers – hospitals, general practitioners, respite and allied health services
Admission
The level of care required by each resident is assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) prior to entering a mecwacare residential aged care facility. Health, social and personal needs are considered to determine eligibility and options for ongoing care. A referral to ACAT can be obtained from your doctor or your local hospital.
Respite Care
mecwacare offers short term respite care for people whose regular carer may need a break, or with short term need for increased care. Respite care is available at our Noel Miller Centre in Glen Iris, for people with a low care aged care assessment.
A care plan is agreed in advanced by the respite resident, their family and mecwacare. This agreement specifies the duration of the stay. In all instances the client and family needs are discussed before the agreement is made.
