The first stage of the two-year, $46.5 million transformation of Resthaven Westbourne Park, is now complete. Based on the innovative ‘small house’ aged care model, the major redevelopment provides a more homely and personalised environment for the 121 residents who reside at the home.

Between 1972 and 1979, Resthaven Westbourne Park resident Mr Errol Bungey represented Australia in the sporting arena on 68 separate occasions. The sport was lawn bowls. The competition was fierce, and Errol was one of the ones to beat.

On 28 September, Resthaven Westbourne Park formed a small group to check out the Craft Display Day at their local Uniting Church. Lifestyle Coordinator, Rachael Ross says, "Westbourne Park Uniting Church is located across the road, and one day, I noticed a banner advertising their display."

Mrs Helen Doley was no stranger to Resthaven Westbourne Park when she became a resident four months ago, after dedicating 26 years volunteering at the home, and a combined total of 79 years volunteering across various charities.
On Friday 16 June 2023, a ‘turn the turf’ ceremony was held at Resthaven Westbourne Park at 30 Sussex Terrace, Westbourne Park, to officially mark the beginning of the $46.5m site redevelopment.
On 1 February, Resthaven Westbourne Park welcomed a special visitor from Edwardstown Bunnings, who brought with her a generous donation for a group of green thumbs on site.
Last month, one resident at Resthaven Westbourne Park chose a unique mode of travel to revisit her hometown in Holland—taking other residents along for the ride! Lifestyle Coordinator, Rachael Ross, says, "As part of the Lifestyle program, we take residents on what we call ‘armchair travels’ around the world, all in the comfort of the main hall."
Nolton Park’s therapy horses are back, and this time, to visit residents at Resthaven Westbourne Park. These gentle miniature horses are trained to visit aged care sites, hospitals, palliative care, and Ronald McDonald House, providing adults and children with a healing interaction.
Resthaven resident, Mrs Olga Hrvatin, is the ‘tech whiz’ of Resthaven Westbourne Park, using Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype to stay in touch with family and friends in Slovenia.

As Mrs Marjorie 'Marj' Holman celebrates her 100th birthday on 1 October, she reflects on her life full of faith, volunteering at Resthaven and travelling, sharing her secret to reaching her centenarian milestone.
